Ex agitators of the Federal Amnesty programm have called for an immediate appointment of a Special adviser to pilot their affairs in the amnesty program.
Speaking during a peaceful protest at the Amnesty office in Abuja they also noted that the committee in charge of investigating recent discrepancies in the office have not been carrying-them along especially in areas of selection of beneficiaries in the slated programs for Niger Deltas.
According to the National Chairman,Presidential Amnesty program phase two,General Aso Tambo who appreciated president Muhammadu Buhari for his support so far,appealed for the appointment of an SA from the Ijaw extraction with the interest of the people at heart.
He maintained that the last leadership did not do the needful,noting that they sold scholarship slots to non agitators which is against the agreement made before the inception of the Amnesty program.
Mr Tambo therefore called for a dialogue between them and the committee members to ensure their input in the affairs since they have been involved and understand the plights of the people.
Also contributing one of the leaders General Olotu Wanemi stated that they have sacrificed a lot to ensure the Amnesty program came to reality and will not allow people with selfish plans ruin a programme that has been put in place to benefit thousands of youths and ensure they are given their right of place.
He further decried that due to fraudulent activities in the Amnesty office most of the ex agitators have not been paid for over eight months as he called on those incharge to do the needful to ensure the office meets up its duties at the right time.
More so IYC Financial Secretary comrade Oyeinkediton Churchill called on the federal government to absorb ex agitators into various departments and units to divert the attention of the Niger Delta youths from involving themselves in various criminal activities especially against carrying of arms which is one of the basic aim of the Amnesty program.
General Clinton Ebiema in charge of phase two presidential Amnesty program who also thanked President Buhari for his support for the Amnesty program so far called for the leaders to be included in the affairs of the office to ensure transparency.
