The people of Asa and Ilorin West local government areas have thrown their weight behind the candidature of Alhaji Rasaq Lawal as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Asa/Ilorin West constituency.
Leaders of the PDP in the two local government areas gave the assurance at separate stakeholders’ meetings in Afon, headquarters of Asa LG and at the Ilorin West secretariat of the party, Agbo- Oba, Ilorin.
The House of Representatives candidate had visited the two places on a ‘thank you visit’ for their support to ensure his emergence as the PDP candidate for the constituency.
Both PDP Chairmen in Asa, Alhaji Folorunsho Busari and Ilorin West, Alhaji Ameen Baba Okota expressed their total support for Lawal, who they described as a bonafide son of Asa and Ilorin West local government areas.
Busari and Baba Okota, who said that they were proud of Lawal’s track records of achievements when he was a cabinet member in the state between 1999 and 2003, said they were delighted about his election as their representative.
They added: ” We are united in our support for you . We don’t have any choice but to support all the candidates of the PDP because our Godsend leader, Dr. Bukola Saraki has graciously picked our son, Atunwa as PDP gubernatorial candidate.
“Rasaq Lawal is our son in Asa and Ilorin West . He has track records of achievements, humble and Godly,” they enthused.
They thanked Lawal who is also the state Secretary of the PDP for his role in ensuring that prominent members of the old PDP stayed back in the party to receive Saraki and his followers.
Responding, the elated and appreciative Rasaq Lawal, thanked the leadership of PDP in Asa and Ilorin West under the chairmanship of Folorunsho Busari and Baba Okota for keeping members of the party united.
He assured them of quality representation and asked them to thank the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki on his behalf.
He said all hands must be on deck to deliver 100% votes for the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Barr Razak Atunwa and other PDP candidates during the 2019 general elections.
Lawal also visited the Chairman of the PDP in Kwara Central, Alhaji Jimoh Adesina who prayed for him and assured him of the support of all the party’s supporters and stalwarts in the zone.
Some of the dignitaries in attendance were a PDP stalwart, Alhaji Saadu Ajelanwa, former state lawmaker, Alhaji Isiaka Magaji and former commissioners in the state, Adebayo Ahmed and Alhaja Ramata Abaya- Adesina.
