415 Constables Pass Out Of Police Training School

Commandant, Police Training School, ACP Jonathan F. Modi, yesterday, said one female recruit lost her life while three, comprising one female and two males were summarily dismissed  for various disciplinary offenses.

He disclosed this at the passing out ceremony of the 2016/2017 general duty police constables, police training school, Benin.

He said the recruits started their nine months training programmes on 31, December, 2016 with a total strength of 459, comprising 329 males and 126 females.

The Commandant said, during the period of training, 40 Specialist (Trades Men) comprising 35 males and five females were passed out on the 19 of May, 2017.

Modi added that the total strength of the recruit constables that would pass out today was 415, comprising 294 males and 121 females, all general duty.

Congratulating the newly recruited officers, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, said they should be good ambassadors and always put in their best towards enhancing the performance of the force in maintaining law and order in the country.

The Inspector General of Police, represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, zone 5, Benin Headquarters, Abubakar Muhammad, said that the public has high expectations from them as police officers as the protection of lives and property, enforcement of all laws and regulations, prevention of crimes lie squarely on their shoulders.

He urged them to abstain from all forms of corruption as the force has zero tolerance for it and it’s prepared to deal seriously with anyone caught in its web.

“The federal government and the present force management team have zero tolerance on corruption and other activities that may drag the image of the police into disrepute. I will not hesitate to deal decisively with any police officer found in acts which violates the laws of the land including the prosecution of such persons to act as deterrent to others”, he said.
