Kwara state Chairman of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Alhaji Mohammed Tunde Akanbi, has admonished the recently elected national treasurer of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Hajia Fatimah Rasheed, not to betray the confidence reposed in her by journalists in the state.
Akanbi equally urged her to endeavour to always carry every member of the state’s chapter of the Association along in her activities, reminding her that all female journalists in the state worked for her success in the elections that ushered her in as national treasurer.
The NALVEJ chairman gave the admonition when Fatima Rasheed and her team paid a thank you visit to the league members during their meeting on Tuesday at the NUJ press centre, Ilorin.
He enjoined the new NAWOJ Treasurer to give a good account of herself in her new assignment and be a good ambassador of Kwara NAWOJ and NUJ.
Other speakers, Mrs Yemi Ademokoya, Mrs Femi Olarewaju, Barr. AbdulRahman AbdulMalik and Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin, also advised the NAWOJ Treasurer to be upright and diligent in the discharge of her onerous duty.
Responding, the NAWOJ Treasurer, Fatimah Rasheed, thanked the senior journalists for their prayers and support before, during and after the election, promising not to let them down.
She was accompanied by some NALWOJ members, including the state chairperson of the association, Ayobola Olupinla.
