Activists Task Federal Government On Worsening National Security, Maternal, Mortality, Others.

The need to urgently find lasting Solutions to the worsening National Security and Maternal Mortality as well as Religious Fanaticism so as to curtail escalating incidence of high population of Orphans in Nigeria has been stressed.

Comrade Ogbebor Eghosa-Osaze stated this on Monday in Benin city while organising a programme for Orphans to mark his Birthday.

The Activists including Coordinator of Centre for good governance and Member governing Council of the Ambrose Ali University, AAU, Comrade Austin Osakue, seasoned Surgeon, Dr Fidelis Ozoba who spoke through Dr Udomor Ozoba and Ebiuwa Eghosa-Ogbebor named other causes of escalating population of Orphans to include dearth of functional Education, Failing affordable Health
Care Services , Poor enforcement of National Policy on Family Planning and Traditional preference for Male Children.

He advocated for strengthening of Campaign for donation of blood by the Public for emergencies at the Labour Ward.

Comrade Ogbebor Eghosa-Osaze in the
programme, ” tagged One life Count Campaign”, said despite success of the Children of hope Project launched by Federal Government’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief ,PEPFAR in Collaboration with European Co-operative for Rural Development, Widows and Orphans empowerment in 2008 Nigeria at the moment has over 20 million Orphans and vulnerable Children”.

According to him, “when Orphans are neglected their vulnerability to HIV-AIDS infection, poverty, illiteracy, Teenage Pregnancy and sexual exploitation will go high, while the vision of a just and fair society for Nigeria will continuously be a mirage.”

Some of the Orphans who spoke including, Pamela Iwinosa and Destiny Iwinosa said, ” Government must partner with international Organizations, Supports NGO’s ,Community based Organizations ,Corporate bodies ,Media and the Judiciary to care for Orphans and Vulnerable in the Society.”
