By Steve Oni, Ilorin

Prof. Olufunmilayo Adesanya-Davies, a Unuversity don from Ira in Kwara State, remains the presidential candidate of the Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), the leadership of the party has said.

The national secretariat of the party described as false the insinuation that one Alhaji H. Abubakar has been elected to replace Adesanya- Davies as MAJA party’s presidential candidate.

These clarifications were contained in a statement by the MAJA’s national secretary,
Aliyu Ibrahim, and Acting national publicity secretary, Comrade Nobleiyke Edoziem.

The statement further described as untrue the news by one Ritchie Otonoku that the National Chairman of MAJA Party, Chief. Mrs. Chika Ibeneme, the National Secretary Aliyu Ibrahim and the Assistant National Publicity Secretary had been suspended and that one Alhaji H. Abubakar has emerged the Presidential candidate of MAJA Party in the coming 2019 general elections as published oin spiteeer 9.

It added: “Rather, ours is Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), and MAJA remains as Alliance and not MAJAP, and the positions of our National Executive members remain at status quo ante; while Professor Mercy Olufunmilayo Adesanya-Davies remains the only consensus presidential candidate of MAJA, who went through our affirmation on 7th of October 2019, that was supervised by INEC officials sent by their national commissioner Muazu.

“Our MAJA (Mass Action Joint Alliance) is a member of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) that signed the memorandum on 9th July 2018; and any MAJA that is not part of CUPP is nMAJA Party or a sort of defection, and we hereby dissociate ourselves from them and any further claims.

“This serves to further inform all stakeholders and every well meaning Nigerian that MAJA and Chief. Mrs. Chika Ibeneme, the national chairman, the national secretery and the entire NEC and all members have pledged their support, in spite of any provocation and conspiracy against the CUPP; and remain undaunted on this commitment in face of any accusation, embarrassment or indictment until otherwise stated.

“MAJA currently is repositioning our Board of Trustees as known by INEC in order to move our great party forward and in order to be successful in the 2019 elections.

“There couldn’t have been any indefinite suspension of our national chairman and almost all our national executive members as MAJA is a consistent Nigerian project towards the New Nigeria Agenda with a rare Ideology.”
