AIG Zone 5 Takes Over Investigation Into Allege Threat To Life

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 5, Benin City, Abubakar Adamu Mohammed has taken over
investigation into an alleged threat to life, stealing, inhuman treatment and police intimidation leveled against one Egbaoghene Oke and officers and men of the Oleh Police Station in Delta State by one Miss Erowo Ekere.

Miss Erowo Ekere through her lawyer, Odior and Co. forwarded a petition to the AIG urging him to carry out full investigating into an alleged threat to life, stealing, inhuman treatment and police intimidation meted out on her, her elder sister and her five months old daughter by Egbaoghene Oke and officers and men at the Oleh Police Station

The Zone 5 Zonal Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Emeka Iheanacho in a statement on behalf of the AIG stated that “consequent upon the gravity of the petition/complaint, coupled with the public outcry, the AIG Zone 5 detailed a crack investigation team to carry out full scale investigation into the matter and report back to him.

According to the Zone 5 PPRO, I wish to state that investigation into the matter is almost concluded and appropriate sanction would be meted or applied as soon as the investigation police officer forwards his findings to the Assistant Inspector General of Police.

“The AIG is a very distinguish and seasoned administrator, who has a track records of impeccable reputation in terms of discipline who at all-time uphold the tenets of equity, fairness and justice and would not hesitate to apply same in this matter, irrespective of whose ox is gored.

“I wish also to advise and at the same time appeal to the siblings and their associates to exercise restraint so as not to throw caution to the wind as the AIG will soon come up with his findings and subsequently appropriate sanction to whoever that is found wanting” he said

Miss Erowo Ekere in the petition through her lawyer accused the officers and men of the Oleh police station of using machetes to inflict injuries on her and her elder sister while detaining them and their five Months old baby in the police cell at Oleh for four days after they were allegedly accused of assaulting a woman police on duty.
