Aisha Buhari Trains 1,000 Women and Youth on Skills acquisition

The wife of the President Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Buhari the founder of Future Assured Programme has trained over 1,000 Youths and Women on skills acquisition in Bauchi state.

Mrs Buhari particularly called on Northern women to go back to school to acquire Western education in view of the growing global trends, stressing  that any woman that is not educated will lose a lot of opportunities in the modern world.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the week-long skills acquisition training of 1,000 trainees programme through her pet project Future Assured, A’isha said in view of modern technology, “If you cannot read many opportunities will pass you by.”

Stressing that skills acquisition remains one of the biggest weapons of tackling poverty among teeming unemployed Youths and women that are roaming our streets doing nothing.

Held at the multipurpose indoor sports hall in Bauchi, Hajiya A’isha Buhari revealed that before marrying PMB, she only had secondary school education, adding that after her marriage she proceeded with her education not knowing that she will be the wife of the President one day.

Buhari, therefore, admonished women, saying, “I urge you women to go back to school.”

She said the present APC led federal government under PMB set aside N500, 000 billions to support women and youths, saying that her pet project is working to ensure that they are empowered in areas of education, health and skill acquisition.

The wife of the President however urged politicians, community and traditional leaders to support the trainees so that they can stand on their feet.

Speaking earlier the wife of the Bauchi State governor, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar, who is also the founder of Bauchi Sustainable Women Economic Initiative and Peace (B- SWEEP), thanked the wife of the President for the support she gave to the over 1,000 women and youth trainees selected from the state to better their lives.

While acknowledging the ever-support the President’s wife has been given to the women and youths in the state, Hajiya Abubakar informed that during Hajiya Buhari’s last visit to Bauchi, she brought food items for the people, which “we shared it to all the 20 local government areas”.

She then assured Hajiya Buhari of the continuous support of not only women and youths but also the entire people of the state for President Buhari, saying that, “as you know, Bauchi is one of those states President Buhari is having much support.”

Our Correspondent reports that 1,000 youths and women  were trained on various skills such as Beautification, (face, body, Gele and tying) Baking, Tie and Dye, Insecticide Production, and Body Perfume and Car Air Freshener.

In his presentation, the executive chairman of Bauchi State Commission for Youths and Women Rehabilitation and Development (BACYWORD), Barrister Ahmed Umar Farouk Gwadab, disclosed that 1,000 trainees were carefully selected for skills acquisition programme sponsored by FUTURE ASSURED.

The Chairman said the administration of M A. Abubakar found the situation of women and youth in Bauchi state in a wayward situation which prompted him to unveil its marshal plan to tackle the social vices and institute workable mechanism that will forestall youth restiveness that threatens the society.

BACYWORD Boss said that his Commission received the approval of Governor Mohammed Abubakar to source and rehabilitates about 1,000 women and youths having drug abuse issue and other allied behaviours at the Citizens and Leadership Training Centre, Shere Hill, Plateau State.

According to him, 500 of this number would upon the rehabilitation be engaged in training on the repairs of smart phones and other sophisticated electronic gadgets, while the remaining 500 would receive specialized training in the design and creation of software application.

He also added that additional 2000 youths have been fully recruited to provide security and social services by ensuring orderliness in public places and government facilities in all ministries departments and agencies (MDAs) and in the 20 local government areas in the state.

He informed that each of them is receiving a monthly stipend of N15, 000 and above.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of the Future Assured sponsored skill acquisition programme were given certificates and a token amount of money by Mrs Buhari.
