The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, Alhaji Sani Yakubu, has emphasized the need for state governments to align their resource utilisation plans with the national economic plan.
Sani who spoke yesterday in Sokoto at the opening of the technical session of the 9th Meeting of the National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment, said that the state governments would gain a lot by doing so.
According to him, “state governments can leverage information data, feasibilities and business plans prepared at very high levels of competencies”.
He explained that foreign investors, donor agencies and development partners were interested in seeing established coherence and consistency.
“This signals clarity and transparency. And all of this unlocks an easier and bigger range of funding and collaboration”, he added.
He said that the ERGP had sixty strategies that would bring about the overall objective of economic growth and that the organization was estimating an annual growth rate of 8.5% in manufacturing, rising from a negative growth of -5.8% in 2016 to 10.6% in 2020.
He spoke extensively on the multi stake holder strategy which is built on engagement with multi stakeholders particularly the private sector.
He said that given the pressure on government funds, there was need to draw in domestic and multinational private sector investments.
