Amnesty Program: Bayelsa youths trained on tricycle installation

A twelve weeks program aimed at training participants on the rudiments of installing, assembling, repairs and riding of tricycle is ongoing in Yenagoa.

The program tagged “train the trainee” is part of an ongoing Amnesty program organized by the office of the special adviser to the president in synergy with Thk and Tarik Nigerian limited with Yutaili China.

The program which also revolves around vocational training, empowerment, mentoring and business setup had 80 youths from the amnesty program as participants including well trained engineers from China as mentors.

Speaking in an interview with our correspondent, the MD and CEO Thk and Tarik Mr Tari Okosi noted that after the training, participants will be able to assemble and also build tricycles for themselves and other companies who might be interested in their services. Due to the terrain in Nigeria …

According to Okosi, the benefits of the training are enormous as the participants will at the end of the day be taught how to assemble the tricycles from the scratch, which will also enable them assemble and repair other tricycles not owned by the company alone, making them versatile and grounded in their field.

He also noted that at the end of the training the participants will be gifted with free tricycles which they will assemble by themselves, this will enable them start their own business

‘‘We are optimistic that this training will boost the business strength in the Nigerian market thereby making them our youths self employed and financially independent

‘‘Let me add that the training gives them grounds to also train other persons that are interested and if they are successful and need to have more contact with the Chinese company, a discount will be given to them due to the contact they have already had during the training’’he explained.

Also speaking was, Mr Cheng Wei who appreciated Thk and Tarik for giving them the opportunity to train the youth noting that at the end of the training the participant will be able to stand firm as both engineers and contributors to the society.

‘‘We have taken time to tutor the trainees on the various tools and parts involved in building up a tricycle. I urged them to give their best since the success of their future is dependent on how serious they will take the trainning’’ he said.

Meanwhile some of the trainees Mr Solomon Patrick from Akwa Ibom and Peter Akpan thanked the amnesty program and everyone who believed in them promising to give their best to ensure that they give back to the society through what they have learnt.
