The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alh Atiku Abubakar would reactivate local government administration if elected as the nation’s next president.

Kwara state governor, Alh Abdulfatah Ahmed gave this assurance on Friday at Isanlu Isin in Isin local government area of the state during the PDP campaign rally .

Ahmed said the PDP Presidential candidate would give the local governments a new lease of life to enable administrators at that level of governance discharge their responsibilities to the people at the grassroots.

He blamed the present dysfunction of local governments across the country on the insensitivity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government.

“Nigerians at the grassroots today are suffering because the local governments can no longer meet their obligations to the people. And without local government functioning effectively dividends of democracy will not get to the people at the grassroots. This is one of the errors that the PDP will address when we form the government at the centre this year,” he stated.

The governor further assured Nigerians that the PDP presidential candidate would wipe out poverty from the land.

Earlier, the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Hon. Razak Atunwa, had said he would build on the solid foundation laid by Governor Ahmed.

He emphasised that his administration would prioritise youth employment and empowerment; and women empowerment.

Atunwa pledged to run a welfarism government which would make life abundant for all the people of the state.
