Kwara women in the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) on Monday marched peacefully to Agbaji quarters, Ilorin to sympathise with the residents of the area over Sunday attacks on the community by suspected thugs of the factional All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The apparently unhappy women who were adorned in black attires moved round the community, commiserating with the victims of the dastardly attacks.

The women numbering about 500 were led on the sympathy visit by the state women leader of the PDP, Alhaja Ramata Oganija and the chairman of Kwara State Local Government Service Commission, Alhaja Sarat Adebayo.

They later assembled at Agbaji mosque where special prayers were offered for peace to reign supreme in Ilorin and the entire state.

The Chief Imam of Agbaji, Alhaji Ameenullah Tantolohun, who led the prayer thanked the women for their concern for the victims of the attacj and residents of the community.

He asked the women and the people of Agbaji to remain calm and leave judgment in the hands of God.

Imam Agbaji said the “curse of Allah is already on the heads of those that perpetrated the attacks as well as their sponsors because they did not only attack innocent residents, destroy property, but tore copies of the Holy Qur’an at Solagberu Arabic school.”

He prayed Allah to continue guiding, protecting the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and grant him victory in the coming general elections.

Earlie, Alhaja Ramat Oganija and Alhaja Sarat Adebayo had said they were at Agbaji to sympathise with the victims of Sunday attacks.

They called on the security agencies in the state to be alive to their responsibility of protecting lives and property.

They restated the support of women in the state for the Senate President, saying that ” the Saraki political dynasty has always ensured the welfare and wellbeing of the womenfolk in the state. ”

The women later moved to the Government House, Ilorin where they were received by the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
