Bauchi Govt. releases N17m for 2018 Ou’ranic recitation competition

Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi has called on parents, guardians and other stakeholders in the state to enroll their children into Islamiyyah schools to enable them have sound moral education and grow up as trustful members of the society.
Just he described the Holy Quran as the holiest Book of Islam for the obedience and guidance of Muslims.
He said that affording children the opportunity to undergo Islamiyyah schools will also enable them memorize the Holy Qur’an which is a guidance to mankind as ordained by the Creator.

Governor Abubakar was weekend declaring opened the 32th Bauchi state Qur’anic recitation competition at Kirfi, headquarters of the Local Government Area in the state with 240 participants drawn from the twenty council areas of the state.
Abubakar, who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Kawuwa Shehu Damina, assured of the state government’s continued support and encouragement towards Islamic education, moral up-bringing and Qur’anic recitation.
The governor also called on Muslims Ummah and other spirited individuals in the state to join in sponsoring the competition in view of its attendance benefits which include abundance rewards, as well as good and sound education, among others.
He enjoined the Qur’anic competition organizing committee to do a thorough job of identifying good talents that can perform same last year’s feat at the national competition where A’isha Musa Gale from the state clinched the first position and represented Nigeria at the 59th International Qur’anic recitation competition in Malaysia where she also took the first position.
“Bauchi state candidate’s excellence performance in Malaysia 2017 became the overall winner out of the 46 nations that participated in that competition. It is a great pride to the entire state and the nation at large”, he added.
The governor described the Glorious Qur’an as the holiest book of Islam through which Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta’ala sent instructions and messages to mankind for obedience and guidance, hence it is incumbent upon all Muslims to recite the Qur’an in order to understand the Creator.
He commended the Usman Shehu Dan Fodio University in Sokoto for organizing the annual Qur’anic recitation competition, and expressed delight with the state organizing committee for hardwork, dedication and commitment that made a state candidate excelled at both national and International levels.
The Chairman of the Qur’anic recitation competition committee, Dr. Zubairu Abubakar Madaki commended the state government for its financial and moral support that culminated to the purchase of prices worth N17 million for winners of the competition.
Madaki, who did not disclosed the actual amount approved to the committee by the state government for hosting the annual event, said however that prizes include four cars, four KeKe NAPEP, 24 boxer motor-cycles, 14 each of sewing machines and bicycles, as well as 14 bundles of cloths have been purchased as prizes to the winners of the competition.
He gave six categories of the competition which include recitation of 60 Hizbs of the Holy Qur’an with and without tafsir, 40 Hizbs with and without tafsir, as well as 20 Hizbs with and without tafsir.
Speaking earlier the Emir of Dass Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman who is also the Chairman of the occasion called on the religious and community leaders to pray for peace and socio- economic development of the state and the country at large.
The Head of Administration (HOA), who oversees the office of the council chairman of Kirfi Local Government council, Shu’aibu Abubakar Jugudu has in a welcome address noted that the aim of staging the competition is to encourage and train the youth on how to read and recite the Holy Qur’ an correctly.
The acting chairman expressed delight with the policies and programmes of the Abubakar-led which are geared towards improving the living standard of the generality of the people of the state.
Alhaji Shu’aibu Abubakar also hailed the state government for the execution of various development projects which include the provision of electricity to some towns and villages, building and renovation of health and educational facilities, among others.
The week-long event will see to the emergence of prizes spinners next Saturday.
