The Igwe Igbo in Bauchi, Eze Jude Imagwe has described as ‘primitive’ the ongoing agitation for the creation of the republic of Biafra as a wrong way of drawing government attention to the plights of the agitators.
According to him, calls for Republic of Biafra is being orchestrated by those who did not witnessed the rigours of the Nigerian civil war and the devastating effect caused across the eastern region
Eze Jude Imagwe, who was responding to an address by the Acting Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Bauchi, Nuru Yusuf Kobi during the Eid-el Kabir break, called on leaders to sing songs of national unity rather than agitating for the division of the country.
A press statement signed by the agency’s head, Media and Communications, Shuaibu Danjuma said that the Igwe also stressed the need for Nigerians to harness the rich cultural resources through mutual, harmonious and peaceful co-existence.
He also urged traditional rulers and critical stakeholders across the country to create awareness in order to discourage the youths from indulging in acts or utterances capable of creating disaffection among Nigerians.
Igwe Eze Jude rejected any anarchical state on the hardworking people of Igbo ethnic extraction, stating that his people will not support such wicked and selfish call by some disgruntled elements in the country.
On the quit notice purported to have handed down to the Igbo people living in the North, Igwe Imagwe said when he heard about the notice he only laughed over it.
The Igwe Igbo Bauchi contended that no amount of intimidation or threat can separate the Igbo people from Nigeria as they do not have any other country apart from Nigeria.
He therefore called on Nigerians to logically and holistically address their divergence opinions on a round table rather than engaging each other through hate speeches.
Speaking further, he thanked Governor Mohammad Abubakar, for his pragmatic sense of administration in unifying and championing the spirit of national unity among the diverse ethnic groups residing in the state.
He also expressed gratitude to the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, for providing the enabling environment for the Igbo community and promised that the Igbo people in the state would contribute their quota towards the growth and development of the state.
Eze Jude Imagwe eulogized the visionary stance of President Muhammadu Buhari to deal ruthlessly with anyone caught over hate speech across the country, commended NOA in Bauchi for the proactive step taken in sensitizing and educating Nigerians on various issues bedeviling the corporate existence of the country.
The NOA Acting Director in Bauchi, Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi in company with the management staff of the agency have during the advocacy visit reassured the Igbo community in the state of government’s commitment to their safety and security.
The Acting director explained that the visit was to emphasize the federal government’s commitment to a united Nigeria where all ethnic nationalities residing in the state can actualize their dreams.
He therefore assured the Igbo community of government’s commitment and determination towards ensuring peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians irrespective of their cultural inclinations and associations.
Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi said that the unity and diversity of Nigeria are the country’s strength, saying that every citizen is guaranteed by the constitution to live in any parts of the country, and urged the Igbo people in Bauchi State to disregard the quit notice given to them by the Coalitions of the Arewa Youths.
