Budget: Nigerian Legislature Finally Okays N6.07 Trillion 2016

The Nigerian National Assembly today(Wednesday) finally okayed the 2016 Appropriation Bill, thereby passing the N6.07 trillion budget into law.
This is coming four months after President Muhammadu Buhari presented the spending estimates for 2006 to a joint session of the National Assembly.
Passage of the budget had suffered delayed following several allegations of padding, and allegations of missing budget, particularly at the senate, which had also promised to pass it into law on March 17, but was later shifted to Tuesday, March 22.
However, Appropriation Committees of the two chambers of the National Assembly had on Tuesday, laid their reports on the budget during separate plenary sessions, but could not debate the report in honour of a departed member of the House of Representatives from Nasarawa State.
By this development, the budget estimate is expected to be forwarded to the president for his assent any time from now.
