The Mahatma Ghandi Peace Foundation Nepal has said it is impressed by the resilience, transparency and due process of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as shown in her recent reports.
The organisation stated its position at the presentation of her yearly assessment mandate to civil society organisations and stakeholders on Monday in Abuja.
Barr Rose Ogwuche, the legal advisor of the Foundation while making a presentation, argued that the CBN had demonstrated resilience, transparency and enhanced due process reforms which has made the apex bank sustain the economy of the nation and the West African Sub region amidst a raging global pandemic.
The Foundation further insisted that but for CBN resilience the entire West African economy would have been threatened.
“Whatever affects the Nigerian economy has an effect on the rest of West Africa. So CBN has been battling to sustain the entire region and this is the high point that must be commended”.
The Foundation further averred that available indices point to the position that despite the raging global pandemic, the Naira will begin to rise in the first quarter of 2021 based on the existing preparedness and policies of the apex bank.
“All we seek now, is for stakeholders to rally support to the CBN to enable the her consolidate on the gains already achieved.
The Foundation expressed optimism that the foresight of the current CBN leadership can be relied upon having proved beyond reasonable doubt the capacity to keep the nation and the entire West African region afloat.
