Old Students Association of Baptist High School(BOSA), Benin City, led by their President, Ms Efosa Uyigue, brought smiles to a lot of faces by donating some food items and COVID-19 safety materials which they tagged Survival Kits to some of their members, staff of the school, an orphanage home and some members of the community where the 53 year old school is situated.
Speaking at the presentation of the Survival Kits to the beneficiaries, Ms Uyigue, who is the Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Gender Issues, said: “We are now going through difficult times in the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to cushion the effect of the stay at home order as directed by the government we, members of the Baptist High School, Benin Old Students Association(BOSA), decided to put resources together.
“We felt that we should reach out to people who may have some challenges right now providing for their families because businesses are not functioning right now.
“This is just the little we can do to cushion the effect of this stay at home and this being the Easter season we want everyone to be happy and have food on their table.”
She appealed to the beneficiaries to adhere to the precautionary measures spelt out by the government to curb the spread of the coronavirus, adding that the safety materials that form part of the Survival Kits were meant to address the issue of safety from the pandemic.
Chairman of the Board of Governors of the school, who is also an alumni, Reverend M. M. Oboh gave kudos to the BOSA for their gesture which he stated is not the first of such laudable projects by the association.
A member of the association, Mrs. Josephine Ali-us, while reminiscing on her days in the school prayed for the quick turn-around of the situation in the country for the better.
