Edo CNPP Condemns Siege On National Assembly

The Conference Of Nigerian Political Parties, ( CNPP), in Edo State has described as undemocratic and disgrace to the Nigerian democracy the siege on the National Assembly , by the State Security Services, ( DSS).

The DSS it would be recalled , on Tuesday prevented lawmakers from gaining access to the National Assembly Complex, by ceiling off all the accessing gates linking to the complex.

A statement made available to journalist in Benin city and signed by its chairman, comrade Roy Oribhabor, said, “the action of the Security agents is an embarrassment to the country”.

Oribhabor said, ” CNPP is seriously bothered about the siege hence, we call on President Buhari to truncate his vacation in UK and return home with immediate effect to show to Nigerians and Nigeria he is in charge of government”.

“Edo state Conference of Nigerian political parties( CNPP) hereby commends the acting president for his prompt intervention to rescue Nigeria democracy from total collapse”.

” the action and conduct of DSS negates the spirit of democracy and call for anarchy in land. Who directed the DG DSS to prevent legislators for performing their constitutional duties ? The conduct of DG DSS clearly shows that he works without consultations therefore, he is doom for petition and destitute of merit.

“We call on Nigerians to protect our democracy and condemn undemocratic tendencies of some persons who found themselves in position of authority without merit”.

Concluding, he said, “today is a sad day for democracy in Nigeria hence,we condemn the action . we call on national Assembly members to be more proactive and pro masses in their policies formations. He concluded.
