In continuation of the fight against human trafficking and irregular
migration, Edo State government has resumed its school to school
campaign in 2019.

The Task Force Against Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration took
the campaign to Uromi the administrative headquarters of Esan North
East local government area of Edo state on Wednesday.

The campaign led by Comrade Solomon Okoduwa, the Senior Special
Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Anti Human Trafficking Issues
said it is the mandate of the governor to take the advocacy to the
nook and cranny of the state.

“Governor Obaseki is not happy with the rate of human trafficking in
the state, and wants it eradicated. He has mandated us to take the
campaign against the activities of human trafficking from village to
village, town to town and across the city centre. And we’re doing that
with increased speed.”

“We are visiting schools because the traffickers harvest young boys
and girls of school age who they could easily deceive to travel abroad
promising them heaven and earth. We’re here to preach the truth,
nothing but the truth to them. The traffickers had a field day in the
past years but never again. Some of the traffickers are already in our
net and they’ll prosecuted accordingly.” Okoduwa posited.

Hon. Austin Okoibhole, the executive chairman of Esan North East Local
Government Area, had earlier received the campaigners at the council
Secretariat where some sensitisation materials were presented to him.

The council boss however thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki for his
laudable achievements especially infrastructural developments and the
war against human trafficking.

Okoibhole who commended the team for coming to Uromi promised to
continue to do his best to improve the technical skills acquisition
center in Uromi to engage youths and harness their potentials to
create opportunity for them to have a better option.

In company of the council boss and other government functionaries as
well as the Edo Central Senatorial Candidate of APC, Hon. John Osagie
Inegbedion, Okoduwa and his team sensitized students of Agba Grammar
School, Uromi on the antics of human trafficking and irregular
migration.
