Elections: Group urges organisations, leaders to desist from inciting statements

The Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), a pan-Igbo socio-political group has urged organisations and leaders to stop making inciting statements concerning issues involving 2019 general elections.

The President of NUF, Mr Augustine Chukwudum, gave the advice in an interview with the Nationaltrail in Enugu on Monday.

Chukwudum advised that people should restrict their comments because matters of 2019 general elections are still in court.

“Our respectable leaders and organisations should allow the elections’ cases in court to be sorted out judiciously and not by media judgment.

“Again, it is when these cases are sorted out and settled; that we can talk about 2023 elections.

“We do not need any form of heating up the polity for now, ’’ he said.

Chukwudum, however, called for inclusive government at all tiers of government to promote harmony and sense of belonging among Nigerians.

“I will call on those candidates and parties that won to be magnanimous in victory by building bridges and carrying others along.

“No section of the country should be left behind in the equitable distribution of national sensitive positions in order to check bickering and internal wrangling,’’ he said.
