The wife of the Emir of Ilorin, Hajiya Rafat Sulu-Gambari, has called on well-heeled individuals and corporate organisations to assist the less privileged in the society to enable them to also live quality lives.

Hajiya Rafat Sulu-Gambari made the call at the Maoulud Nabbyyi and the Turbaning of Sheikh Abdullahi EL-Hassan Zathullahi as the Sarkin Samarin Addini held at the Emir’s Palace in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

According to her, the needy should be given all the necessary support so as to reduce crimes and criminality in the society.

She said: “Wealthy individuals and corporate organisations have a duty to complement government’s efforts in providing social amenities to those in need.

“I also urge religious leaders to always preach love, peace and development of the society.”

She also advocated the extension of love and helping hands to prison inmates in order to make them good citizens and useful to the society on competition of their prison terms.

In his remark shortly after being turbaned, Sheikh Abdullahi EL-Hassan Zathullahi promised to use the opportunity given to him to support the needy, while admonishing those in the positions of authority to always endeavour to carry their followers along in whatever they do in order to build trust and give them sense of belonging.

Sheikh Zathullahi, who expressed his determination to contribute his quota to youth development in the state and the country at large, urged the youth to embrace peace and shun all dastardly acts and negative tendencies that could ruin their future.
