Gunmen Abduct Labour Party National Chairman’s Mother

Unknown gunmen on Sunday night in Ilorin, Kwara state abducted a 71 years old woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Omotosho .

Mrs Omotosho is the mother of the National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Dr Mike Omotosho.

The old woman was allegedly kidnapped by four people at her Tanke, Ilorin, residence, between 7 and 8.00pm.

According to the gateman, four men armed with dangerous weapons stormed the family house at Tanke and abducted Mrs Omotosho to an unknown destination.

Dr Mike Omotosho confirmed the abduction of his mother by the gunmen.

He said the Police headquarters in Abuja and in Kwara state had been contacted on the abduction of his mother and appealed to members of the public with useful information about the kidnappers to contact the law enforcement agencies.

Also speaking with newsmen, Miss  Titilayo Omotosho, said “the gateman who was later released after the abduction (who is in custody now) alleged that four armed men entered the house and told Mrs. Elizabeth Omotosho  to wear clothes and follow them and that if she makes a sound they would shoot her. The gateman said they asked of Titi but i was at a meeting as at that time. I got home,searched  and searched and couldn’t find my mom.”

The spokesman of the Kwara state police command,  Ajayi Okasanmi,who confirmed the development said the woman was abducted and the State Police Command had started the process of freeing her from her abductors.

He added that the Police had swung into action, pointing out that investigation had commenced and advised people of the state not to panic as there is no cause for apprehension.
