Hijaab Approval: FOMWAN Lauds Kwara Governor

Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has commended Kwara state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on the approval of Hijaab for Muslim school girls in the public and grant-aided schools in the State.

The statement by the Kwara state FOMWAN Amirah, Hajia Maimuna Sheu, said: “We hereby reiterate that Hijaab is prescribed by Almighty Allah in the Holy Qur’an 24:30-31 for Muslim women and girl child to protect their chastity, Hijaab is the right of every Muslim female and should be recognized and respected by God-fearing people.

“Therefore, FOMWAN on behalf of the entire Muslim women in Kwara State applauds the wide consultation and peace meetings with the Muslims and Christians stakeholders towards the restoration of understanding and peaceful coexistence. We appreciate our dear Governor for upholding the Kwara State Education Law, the prevailing court judgement and wide consultation based decision in resolving the issue.

“Meanwhile, the FOMWAN sues for calmness and advocates truthful engagement on both conventional and social media, devoid of campaign of calumny in order to restore peace and tranquility. We enjoin all stakeholders to accept, respect and abide by the rights of individuals without any form of inciting utterances.

“FOMWAN calls on the states Ministry of Education and Human Development to speed up the designing of the appropriate uniform Hijaab for public and grant-aided schools in Kwara State.”
