Though the special prayer was organised primarily to seek God’s guidance for the 85 Ilorin Emirate born professors, the Emir directed the clerics to offer special prayers for the restoration of peace and tranquillity in every part of the country.

The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheik Mohammed Bashir Salihu, led other clerics to offer special prayers for the nation’s leaders, requesting God to endow them with the wherewithal to win the insurgency and banditry ravaging the country as a whole.

The Emir, who acknowledged and praised the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari at curbing insurgency and banditry in the country, maintained that what the nation requires to overcome the hydra headed security challenges in various parts of the country is divine intervention through prayers by the leaders of the adherents of the two major faiths in the country.

“I commend President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts at ending insecurity in the country, but of paramount importance is the need for us to seek divine intervention through prayers in overcoming the insurgents,” Sulu- Gambari stated.

The Emir also hailed the proactive steps by the federal government to forestall the spreading of the ravaging coronavirus into the country as well as efforts geared towards halting further spread of Lassa fever.

Sulu- Gambari, however, congratulated the recently appointed 17 professors from Ilorin Emirate, tasking them, including their senior colleagues in the professorial cadre, to use their vantage positions to better the lots of Ilorin Emirate, Kwara and Nigeria in general.

He cautioned them against engaging in unnecessary rivalry among themselves, counselling them that in unity they would achieve more feats, individually and collectively.
