A foremost labour leader, who is also the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Kwara state, Comrade Issa Aremu has cautioned Nigerian Media outfits against giving terrorists’ groups, especially the Boko Haram sect, undue publicity in order to allow the military contain the deadly activities of these enemies of the country.

Comrade Aremu gave the warning on Monday in Ilorin at the Media Parliament of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, while reacting to the invasion of Daily Trust offices in Borno, Abuja and Lagos by the Nigerian Army.

The Labour leader described the Sunday’s lead story of the Daily Trust Newspaper as unprofessional, pointing out that the report disclosed security confidentiality.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party warned journalists and media organisations not to be giving the terrorists unnecessary promotion, rather they should partner with the Federal government to tame the scourge of the deadly terrorists.

He asked journalists to be conscious of their reports, saying that by partnering with the government to curb insecurity would guarantee rapid development of the country.

Comrade Aremu, stressed the need to be careful of activities going on in Borno state, alleging that global forces are at work and want to penetrate Nigeria to take advantage of the endowed mineral resources in the region.

The Labour Party governorship candidate however told the Media as the fourth estate of the realm not to be using their platforms to promote self destruction and be willing tools for destruction of the security.

Comrade Aremu, therefore disclosed that Nigeria is at war with terrorists, hence the need for the media and other relevant stakeholders to partner with the government and security agencies.
