Killings: Plateau To Review Criminal laws

More killings continued in parts of Plateau State, as Gana Ropp in Barkin Ladi recorded about ten deaths after an invasion of the area Tuesday.

This is coming after the Dwei killings in Jos South last Sunday, which left in its trail, about 12 deaths with several others nursing various degrees of inquiries in health institutions in Jos, the capital city.

Though calm has returned to Hamas Ropp, the government the State said it will review the criminal justice act to will ensure quick dispensation of justice to curb risen casualties.

To this end, the government has indicate willingness is intensifying collaboration with the legislative arm in finalizing the appropriate legal frameworks to ensure that those that attack and murder innocent members of communities are brought to Justice.

A statement issued by the State commissioner of Information & Communication Hon. Yakubu Dati said when operational, justice would be meted out without fear or favour.

On the recent attacks, the government conveyed condolences to all those who lost their loved ones and property as well as the injured that were visited by government in the hospital.

The Commissioner urged religious groups, and NGOs engaged in various peace initiatives not to relent in their efforts, but to sustain their advocacy, just as security agencies were also making frantic effort to unravel the assailants.

He further called on members of the public to be vigilant and unite against criminal elements who are bent on taking the state back to the dark days.
