Youths under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the three senatorial districts in Kwara state have expressed their unflinching support to the removal of Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa as the Caretaker Chairman of the party in the state, saying the era of godfatherism and self-service is over for good in the state with the pummeling and ousting of the Saraki dynasty in the 2019 general elections.
Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the state capital, at the weekend, the APC youth said they also aligned themselves with the appointment of Alhaji Abdullahi Samari to replace Bolarinwa as chairman of the party’s caretaker committee, describing the appointment as a round peg in a round hole.
The youth said Bolarinwa ought to have resigned as chairman of the party in the state having shown from inception to date unhidden hostility and hatred for the governor and the party he was entrusted to lead by his actions and inactions, adding that he deserved the fate that now befalls him.
The APC youth through their spokesperson, Abdulmumin Lade Yunusa, said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is the leader of the party in the state, and therefore urged members of the party to join hands with him in his quest to make the state great again.
He said: “It is saddening that we have a good of people that are working against the interest of Kwara state and Kwarans because of their personal political interest which is totally different from the reasons why we said ‘Otoge’ (enough is enough) during the 2019 general elections. These people are more interested in what comes to them than what goes to the people.
“We expected him (Bolarinwa) to have resigned long ago for his undisguised hatred and disrespect for the state governor and the government elected under the party he led. It is therefore not surprising that the national headquarters of our party has done the needful. We hereby declare our support for Alhaji Abdullahi Samari (Bolarinwa’s replacement), while urging him to work with every tendency in the party.
“We also warn against anyone wanting to constitute themselves into nuisance under whatever guise. Kwara is a state of Harmony and no individual, no matter how highly placed, should be allowed to mess with the peace and security of lives and property in the state.”
The APC youth, who commended the developmental efforts of Governor AbdulRazaq in the state within less than two years in office, noted that his administration has been able to get the state off from the blacklist of
Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
“This has made the state to receive N7,151,142,190 grants from the UBEC, the first time since 2013 when the state was blacklisted from the national scheme.
“In a bid to improve the healthcare system and provide unrestricted access to the health needs of Kwarans, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has also embarked on the massive renovation of over 37 primary healthcare centres in the state, aside adding 70 new medical personnel. The Governor also launched a free health insurance scheme for 10,000 indigent Kwarans. Also, the Kwara State General Hospital recently got accredited to train resident doctors after it was adjudged fit for that purpose by the Faculty Board of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
“There is no single local government in Kwara State where infrastructural projects are not being executed. Just yesterday, the Governor flagged off the construction and rehabilitation of 700 kilometres of rural roads under Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in Kwara State,” they added.
