By Steve Oni, Ilorin

The court-recognised All Progressives Congress (APC) executive, led by Hon. Ishola Balogun-Fulani in Kwara state, has inaugurated a 45-man Campaign Council.

Speaking on Friday at the colourful and well attended ceremony, Balogun- Fulani called on the electorate to give massive support to APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Kayode Abdulwahab as well as President Muhammad Buhari.

He told the attendees, including members of the state executive council of the party, the gubernatorial candidate and other candidates across the state, that the inauguration of the campaign council was in line with the recent decision of the Ilorin High Court.

According to the chairman, the court granted the 13 reliefs sought by the applicants in the matter, adding that the sixth relief allowed his leadership to undertake activities and processes related to election at all levels of government in the state.

He noted the objective of the party is that all its candidates must win, hence the call on members of the campaign council to work assidiously for successful outing in the elections.

The APC chairman, however, extended hands of fellowship to the aggrieved members of the party, asking them to return to the party’s mainstream.

While acknowledging the need for the party’s members and stalwarts to work together as a team, Balogun- Fulani said the leadership of the party was open to dialogue.

He added : “Our business today is to inaugurate our campaign council for our part. We are doing this with the authority we derived from the court judgment. As you are aware we have it specifically on the 13 reliefs we asked the court to give us and all were granted but it is relief six that has brought us here today.

“We read out the relief because some people are saying we don’t have it. We appreciate our President Muhamad Buhari who has given us the opportunity to go to Court to seek redress and he has said that as a man of honour anything that comes from the court he will obey. Also our engergised national chairman who has made similar commitments.

“Time is against us. We are not enemies of anybody,we are friends of all so we want everyone to come to our side so that our governor will win and our president will also win. We want to ask every one to go back and work seriously so that we are able to deliver the state for our party. We are the only one who can do it.”

Responding on behalf of other members of the council, the Director General, Alh Jimoh Balogun expressed their readiness to work for the success of the party under the leadership of Balogun -Fulani.

He reiterated the fact that the same leadership won the 2015 elections for the party, hence there is every assurance that it will do the same again.

In his remarks, the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Hon. Kayode AbdulWahab, a former editorial staff of THIS DAY newspapers, promised that if elected his government will ensure the progress of the state across board and charged members to go back and mobilise residents to come and vote for the party.

He promised to use his wealth of experience to ensure a progressive administration in the state.

Members of the Campaign Council include Alhaji Jimoh Balogun, Director General, Hon Christopher Ayeni, Alhaji M.K Ali Baba, Alhaji Uthman Mohammed
and Hajia Tolani Ibrahim among others.
