By Steve Oni, Ilorin

A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has alerted the people of Kwara state to plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government to deploy three commissioners of police, twelve deputy commissioners of police and numerous other policemen policemen for the Kwara Central senatorial election on Saturday, saying this humongous number is more than those to be deployed in any state.

Alhaji Baraje who disclosed this on Wednesday while featuring on a special political programme on Radio Kwara, alerted the people of the state, particularly Kwara central to the ploy by the APC led government to wrestle power from the Senate President by all means, especially by manipulating the electoral process.

He however called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to be neutral and unbiased in conducting the first set of the election on Saturday, pointing out that the international communities are keenly watching the events unfolding in the country.

Alhaji Baraje asked the security agencies, particularly the police not to be allowed to be used by the ruling party to manipulate the electoral process, stressing the need for them to discharge their duties professionally without taking sides.

The PDP Chieftain, also called the attention of the people of Kwara state to the APC presidential rally held in Ilorin on Monday where the national leaders of the party failed to campaign on issues, especially on the programmes the party has for the people of the state, rather it engaged in verbal attacks on the personality of the Senate President.

Alhaji Baraje therefore told the people of the state to be wary of the antics of the All Progressives Congress, saying that it is only the Peoples Democratic Party that could address the problem of poverty ravaging a larger percentage of the country as well as insecurity.

The PDP chieftain however urged the people of Kwara state to come out enmass and not to be intimidated by the look of the security men but use their PVCs to elect all candidates of the Peoples Democratic party in the state.
