Kwara: Deputy Gov chastises security operative for aiding lockdown violation

By Steve Oni, Ilorin

Kwara State Deputy Governor and Chairman Technical Committee on Coronavirus, Mr Kayode Alabi, has intercepted some fully loaded passenger buses operating along Otte-Ogbomosho road in violation of the state government’s lockdown order.

This development made the Deputy Governor to chastise the security agents for conniving with commercial vehicle operators to violate the state government’s closure of its borders.

Mr. Alabi, who was at the Ilorin-Ogbomosho road to monitor compliance with the government’s lockdown directive, expressed displeasure that security officials at the roadblock were aiding road users to violate the government’s restriction order.

He specifically caught a security official that was allowing as many as 20 vehicles carrying hundreds of passengers to evade the lockdown and cross the state border.

While commending security agencies for partnering the state government to combat coronavirus pandemic, the Deputy Governor, however, chastised the apprehended official for aiding rather than preventing the spread of Coronavirus, adding that the Technical Committee would sanction the culprit appropriately.
