The Deputy Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Raphael Adetiba-Olarenwaju says the state legislature will partner with the National Youth Service Corps( NYSC) to ensure that corps members deployed to the state enjoy Kwara’s hospitality.

Hon Adetiba-Olarenwaju gave this assurance at the presentation of beds, mattresses, drugs and other items donated by the state government to the NYSC in the state.

He said the House of Assembly with an appreciable number of youthful honourable members could not but be youth friendly.

The Deputy Speaker said the presentation of 400 mattresses, 200 units of double bunk beds, 100 wooden benches, drugs and other consumables to the NYSC was indicative of a government committed to fulfilling its promises.

“The present government in Kwara State believes in fulfilling promises as we believe in action,” he said, while expressing the hope that the mattresses, beds, drugs and other consumables will ease the stay of corps members in the camp.

The Deputy Speaker appreciated the efforts of the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Esther Tosin Ikupolati, and her managment in attracting developments to the camp.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youths Development, AbdulaQuadir Shuaib Akanbi, who represented the State Governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at the official handing over of the materials said the development underscored the Governor’s commitment to the welfare of people of the state.

The NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Esther Tosin Ikupolati commended the state government for the donation of the beds, mattresses, benches, drugs and other consumables to the camp.

She solicited the assistance of the House of Assembly in easing water supply challenges through the repair of existing boreholes in the camp.

It would be recalled that when Governor AbdulRazaq visited the camp on June 19 this year he expressed concerns about the deplorable conditions of the campus and promised a systematic facelift by attending to the dire needs of the camp to make it more comfortable.

Other Honourable Members with the Deputy Speaker were Hon Awolola Ayokunle, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Sports , Youth, Culture and Tourism, Hon Awodiji Omotayo Felix and Hon AbdulGafar Ayinla, both members of the committee.
