Traditional rulers in Kwara state have pledged their unalloyed support and loyalty to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

The royal fathers led by their Chairman and Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari said they were very impressed and proud by the achievements of the Senate President.

They made the pledge during a visit to Saraki at his residence in Ilorin, the state capital.

Sulu – Gambari who led the team made up of 19 First Class rulers, said the visit was meant to show the whole world that they are solidly behind Saraki.

The emir praised Saraki for withstanding the travails of his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal and specifically commended the Senate President for not allowing any negative utterance to have been traced to him during and after the trial and the landmark Supreme Court’s judgment which absolved him of any wrongdoing.

He said: “We are here to show the Senate President our love and solidarity. We also praise him for his carriage that for all these three years that had passed he had been able to weather the storm.

“It’s not easy unless you are righteously blessed by Almighty Allah to have such quality and we are happy that no utterance has emerged from him that would make any other person unhappy.

“We join him in his joy and we want God to bless him and to guide him and that he may live long with happiness and prosperity. That is our message to him and to the whole world; that we are solidly behind him.

“He has done perfectly well when he was our governor here for eight years. We all saw his administration and we enjoyed him. We still consider it one of the best and we wish him successes. ”

Responding, Saraki expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers for their support and encouragement during the trial and promised not to disappoint them in all his decisions.

He commended them for ensuring peace and harmony in the state and asked for their continued support for the government so that the benefits of democracy can be fully enjoyed by all residents.
