KWSIEC Set To Conduct Council Poll

The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC), has announced the time-table for the conduct of local government election in the 16 local government areas of the state.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the state capital, KWSIEC Chairman, Dr. Usman Ajidagb, said the election would hold within the next 90 days, adding that the proclamation of the councils’ poll was in accordance with the power conferred on KWSIEC in the  third schedule, part II of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended in 2011 particularly paragraph 4 of the schedule and section 20(1) of the Kwara State Local Government Electoral Law, Cap 32 law of the state 2006 as amended by section 20(1) of the Kwara State Local Government Electoral (amended) Law, 2013.

Ajidagba, who urged all political parties, relevant stakeholders and general public to be aware of the commencement of this year’s local government electioneering activities said all arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch- free election.

The KWSIEC Chairman assured stakeholders that the process would be transparent while necessary information about the conduct of the election would be released from time to time.
