Nasarawa state Branch of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE has been engulfed in leadership crisis following the emergence of a faction, which purportedly passed a vote of no confidence on their state president Comrade Tahir Allayi over non performance since Elected in 2012.
The factional Leader Abdullahi Hussaini said that the leadership of the Union betrayed members by not living up to expectations in piloting the affairs of NULGE in state.
Addressing journalists in Lafia he pointed out that comrade Allayi has converted the union dues to his personal use by using union funds meant for the development and welfares of workers to his personal enjoyment.
“Since their assumption in office there was never a Congress which is the Avenue to update members with progress or short of that “.he complained, Comrade Hussaini alleged that the union cannot boast of having account in their name all money remitted from ministry of local government and Chieftaincy Affairs goes in to individual accounts, which is not accountable, unlike previous administrations.
The Factional group nominated, Comrade Abdullahi Hussaini as their caretaker committee chairman to oversee affairs of the Union pending when election of new officers would be conducted .
On the issue of payment of workers salaries the caretaker committee chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Hussaini adviced local government councils administrators in the state to maintain the status quo of paying council workers in percentages.
It would be recalled that there was an agreement between government and organized
labour that payment of salaries in percentages to council workers should be stopped forthwith, but in the event that the allocation of one month from the federation account cannot pay 100% of salaries, the, allocation shall be kept in the accounts of the respective local, governments pending the receipt of the following month’s allocation to settle the preceding month.
Though agreement reached between Labour union and the state government maintained that if the two months allocations cannot settle one month salary, a decision shall be taken by the Joint State and Local Government Account Committee with Organized Labour in attendance.
According to the state Chairman of NULGE caretaker committee, Abdullahi Hussaini , they are not in support of the earlier pact reached that if money from federation account would not settled workers salaries for one month should preserved pending when the council areas will be able to pay council staff 100 percent of their salaries.
” We are of the Opinion that government should be paying workers in the payroll of local government councils their salaries in percentages base on the monthly allocation accessed from the federation account without any delayed, just as he called on members to give them maximum support and corporation to better their lot as soon as possible.

Our correspondent reports that, on February 19, members of the factional group staged a state wide protest against the leadership of the state union, for they are involvement on the NLC strike which collapsed government and commercial activities in the state.
The group announced setting up a seven-man committee with a call on them to be prudent, transparent and be good managers of resources as well as imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.
