NGO to train 3000 youths nationwide on life skills beginning Nov.16

A Non- Governmental Organization, Free Community Foundation, says it has concluded arrangements to train over 3000 youths nationwide to address youth restiveness, encourage self-reliance and generally complement the Federal Government’s efforts in reducing crimes in the country.

Mr Mark Agu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the foundation, disclosed this on Thursday, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) ahead of the training programme scheduled to start on Nov.16, in Pegi, Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

He said the training programme with the theme, “COVID-19 Free Palliative Training Programme” was aimed at empowering and supporting the youth through wealth creation and self-employment.

“We have drawn participants from various parts of the country, to train for one week on different skills,’’ Agu said.

The programme’s training modules, Agu said, will include solar installation, satellite, fashion design, catering and decoration, bead making, cable installation, website and graphic design, video editing, CCTV installation and paint making.

“From what we have seen in the country, the youths are protesting because they want their rights as they have not been carried along for too long.

“We want to train and empower the youths with life skills so that they can be useful to the society, adequately engaged and self-employed for the economic development of the country,” he said.

The organisation has as its objective empowering and supporting entrepreneurial development, to ensure self-employment and wealth creation by youths in the country.

“Free Community is a world of artisans saddled with the responsibility of empowering and supporting youths through free skills acquisition programmes.

“There is need to engage ourselves in various skills and stop looking for white collar jobs that are no longer available,” he said.
