Niger Advocates Marine Police In Riverside Areas.

Niger state Acting Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed Ketso has stressed the need for the Nigeria Police to set up Marine Police and provide speed boats to combat insecurity in the riverine areas.
He said that the setting up of Marine Police will help to further curb the menace of herdsmen attack and reduce the rate of insecurity in riverine areas.
The Acting Governor said that if Marine Police were available, the massacre that took place in Niger community would not have occurred because there will be security presence in the community.
Ketso stated this while playing host to the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Shuaibu Gambo in Government House, Minna.
He also stressed on the need for reorganization of Police Divisional Commands to suit the needs of the villages in the state adding that, “the issue of jurisdiction within Divisional Police Commands is unnecessary and bring about delays when urgent security crisis occurs.”
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Shuaibu said he was in the state to take note of the challenges faced by the people and Police force in Nigeria state.
He assured the state government that the Police Force will set up Special Marine Police in the riverine areas to ensure that there will be no more repeat attacks of herdsmen in such areas.
