No Plan To Impeach Edo Speaker – Hon Edoroh

The. member representing Esan central constituency, Edo State House of Assembly, Victor Edoroh has disassociate himself from alleged move by some members of the House to impeach the speaker, Justin OKonoboh

Edoroh who was impeached as speaker in 2016 by 18 out of the 24 members over alleged high-handedness, dictatorial tendencies and alleged financial recklessness said he has since put the past behind him

He vowed never to indulge in anything that will destabilized the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration and expressed readiness to work with any leadership at the State House of Assembly

The former speaker who equally expressed reservation over the nitty gritty of the procedure by which the House slated to resume plenary last Monday was adjourned said as a loyal party man he had to overlooked the constitutionality or otherwise of such action which he only got to know that fateful morning through phone call

“To the best of my knowledge, no impeachment plan. I have since move on with my life. For the great respect I have for the Governor, Godwin Obaseki who is God’s sent and his deputy, Philip Shuaibu I will never indulged in anything that will destabilize the government”

“The only time I frown at the situation in the House was when I was removed while the speakership was ceded to another senatorial zone which it was not suppose, but in the spirit of good leadership the party returned it back to my senatorial district and since then we have been working together as one, I have no grudge anymore”

“I’m comfortable with any leadership in Edo House of Assembly. Anybody can be speaker, I fully comfortable. Power is from God, People determine who rule them. As far as I m concern I do not have the intention of becoming the speaker.

Meanwhile , Speaker of the House, Justin Okonoboh said there was no impeachment plot as being rumoured , adding the House only adjourned plenary sitting to enable it fix the generating power plant currently malfunctioning so as to avoid embarrassment during plenary

He said, he currently enjoy cordial relationship with the parliamentarians and denied knowledge of alleged move by the former Speaker, Victor Edoroh, representing Esan Central Constituency to stage a come back

He posited that the absent of rancour between the legislative and executive arms should not be misconstrue as weakness on the part of the House adding that the State Assembly under his leadership has passed no fewer than seven bills

“Postponement is very convenient for us. There was no impeachment. The generator was malfunctioning and I came early Monday morning to inspect some of these work needed to be done so as to avoid embarrassment during plenary sitting”, he added.
