The Ishola Balogun-Fulani led All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state has denied any link with Thursday’s public disturbance in parts of Ilorin, the state capital.
Balogun-Fulani in a statement he personally signed has put a lie to the claim by a factional Chairman of the party in the state, Bashir Bolarinwa that members of his group were involved in the disturbance of public peace.
According to Baligun-Fulani, the public disturbance broke out in Agaka and other parts of the metropolis when a gubernatorial aspirant, Waziri Yakubu Gobir, loyal to Bolarinwa’s group, was moving round the town with his alleged riotous supporters.
He added that the clash, according to sources, broke out when some hoodlums allegedly in Gobir’s entourage were molesting innocent citizens around Agaka area of the metropolis.
He said: “The hoodlums in Gobir’s entourage we learnt met stiff resistance from the youths of Agaka area and were chased out of the area. It’s therefore hypocritical for the self acclaimed caretaker chairman of APC, Bashir Bolarinwa to now blame the clash on the real members of APC in the state.
“We urge the public to hold Bolarinwa and his cohorts responsible for the violence being introduced to Kwara politics. We also urge the police to investigate the unfortunate incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
