All six (6) Chairmanship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming FCT Area Council election have been assured of the full backing of the National Chairman and the leadership of the Party at all levels so as to maintain the Party’s hold on the FCT.
The National Chairman of the Party, Sen. Dr. Ali Modu Sheriff gave the assurance at a meeting with the Candidates who were led to his office by the Senator representing the FCT, Senator Phillip Aduda; stressing that the FCT is strategic to his plans for the re-launch of the PDP.
Senator Sheriff said he will personally mobilize the caucus of the PDP to throw its weight behind the candidates in the forthcoming election.
While expressing satisfaction with the performance of the Party in the re-run and bye elections across the country so far, the National Chairman observed that wining all Six (6) Council elections in FCT will send the rightful signal to the effect that PDP remains the Africa’s leading political Party.
In thanking the Senator and the Candidates, Senator Sheriff asked them to work for the success of the PDP in order to shame the critics of the Party and as a victory present to him for emerging as the National Chairman.
Sen. Phillip Aduda while responding on behalf of the Candidates assured Sen. Sheriff that the FCT is a traditional PDP territory and that there are very strong indications that the PDP remains the Party to beat in the forthcoming elections.
In congratulating the National Chairman of the PDP Sen. Aduda promised total and unflinching support to the Chairmen for the period he will hold sway as the PDP National Leader.
