Police arrest cargo agent for allegedly stabbing NAHCO staff

The Murtala Muhammed Airport Police Command has arrested a cargo agent (names withheld) for allegedly assaulting one Mr Tersuu Orhemba, a staff of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO).

The spokesperson for the Command, DSP Joseph Alabi, confirmed the development to Nationaltrail on Monday in Lagos.

Alabi said the suspect, who had been at large, was apprehended by officers attached to the NAHCO Divisional Police Station.

He said that the suspect was helping the police in their investigations.

Nationaltrail reports that the suspect had on April 3 allegedly stabbed Orhemba who was on duty at NAHCO Cargo area of the airport.

The victim was rushed to Surgical Emergency Department of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he is currently battling for his life.

A staff of NAHCO, who does not want his name in print, had earlier on Monday told newsmen that the incident was captured in full view of a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) and had eye witnesses.

“The attacker was not any unknown soldier. He is a staff of one of the so-called big boys in cargo clearing and forwarding. NAHCO security officers reported the matter to the Police.

“The police came and wanted to effect arrest. Some cargo agents said they would not allow the police to arrest any of them. The police went away.

“NAHCO security department followed up with the DPO who said that the police had written to the company of the alleged attacker for them to bring him for interview, ” he had said.
