Remains of Dr. Belawu Garba Gobir committed to mother earth

The remains of Dr. Belawu Garba Gobir, the mother of a frontline politician in Kwara State, Alhaji Yakub Gobir, have been buried according to Islamic rite.

The Janazzah prayer took place at Alhaji Yakub Gobir’s residence, Umar Audi road, GRA, Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

The prayer, which was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, had in attendance the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, representative of the Emir of Ilorin and Chiroma, Alhaji Abubakar Bature and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem.

Others were a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo and other leaders of the party from across the state.

Hajia Belawu Gobir died on Friday at the age of 78.

In an interview, the first child of the deceased and former Governorship Aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Yakub Gobir said the values of humility, quest for knowledge and generosity of Hajia Belawu Gobir would be missed by the family.

One striking thing about the love and commitment of the deceased to education was that she bagged a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Lagos at the age of 70.
