The Syupreme Court on Monday in Abuja upheld the appeal by the President of Nigerian Senate , Bukola Saraki over alleged non declaration and false declaration of assets.
In a unanimous decision of the fiver member panel, delivered by Justice Centus Nwezw, the apex court held that Saraki has no case to answer of the remaining three count charges, earlier declared by the Court of Appeal.
According to it, the Appeal Court erred in its verdict to the effect that Senator Saraki has a case to answer on three of the eighteen count charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, even as it based its decision on hearsay.
Senator Bukola Saraki had appealed the verdict of the Appeal Court which held that he was liable to answer on three of the charges, fifteen of which he was discharged of.
The Supreme court fixed today for the delivery of its judgement, after leading to the arguments of the parties, and consequently declared the lead lawmaker in the country innocent of the charges against him.
The lead judgement of justice Nweze was unanimously upheld by all other judges on the panel, bringing an end to what many perceived as an unwarranted prosecution of the Senate President,
