Sokoto Jihadists: Senator Wammako Advocates Education Summit

Sokoto State former Governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has advocated an educational summit to brainstorm on the possibility of integrating the works of the founding fathers of the Sokoto Caliphate into the existing education curricula in the country.
He said that doing so would go a long way in revitalising education as well as boosting the moral rejuvenation of youths.
He spoke at the commissioning of a centre he donated to the Centre For Intellectual Services on Sokoto Caliphate, an institution dedicated to the propagation of the literary works of the founding fathers of the caliphate.
Wamakko who was represented by the former Religious Affairs’ Commissioner, Professor Musa Garba Maitafsir said that the donation of the centre was part of his sustained efforts to promote Islam and Islamic education.
Commissioning the cemtre, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Council for Isamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Ububakar 111 appealed to other wealthy individuals to emulate Senator Wamakko in propagating Islamic religion, as well as helping in the publication of the literary works of the founding fathers of the Sokoto Caliphate.
The royal father who was represented by the Wazirin Sototo, Professor Sambo Wali Junaid, said that that ” the day is very historic for the centre which is working round the clock to propagate the literary works of the founding fathers of the Sokoto Caliphate.
”These founding fathers had tirelessly worked to write on all aspects of human lives, in spite of their legendary Jihad activities.
The Religious Affairs Commissioner, Alhaji Mani Maishinko Katami, who was represented by Alhaji Liman Maigero, Director, Shariah Education, pledged that, the state government would continue to assist in the propagation of Islamic education.

The Chairman of the Management Committee of the Centre, Alhaji Muhammadu Sambo Usman who is also the District Head of Goronyo, expressed happiness that, the centre which had been operating from a rented office for over fifteen years, now had a permanent location.
