Sokoto Sets Up Committee On Govt Quarters

In a bid to ensure a fair and just implementation of the Sokoto state Executive Council’s resolution on the sale of government quarters to deserving occupants, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has approved the immediate appointment of a twelve- member committee.

The committee is headed by  the Secretary to the State Government, Professor  Bashir Garba, with  the Director of Administration, Political Affairs, Malami Abdullahi Yabo as Secretary and the Deputy Director, Cabinet Affairs, Nasiru Bala, as Co-Secretary.

According to the statement by Governor Tambuwal’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, the committee has the following terms of reference:

Making necessary arrangements for the issuance of allocation letters to eligible beneficiaries, ensuring that the demarcation carried out is strictly enforced without any violation of standard measurement; ensuring that beneficiaries preserve the vegetation within the vicinity of their surroundings to avoid unnecessary felling of trees; all payments accruing from the sale be deposited into a designated Government Account, while deposit tellers be forwarded to the Committee for documentation; any other assignment considered important towards ensuring a successful implementation, co-opt any person that is considered to be relevant for the success of the Committee’s assignment.

According to the statement, the appointment takes immediate effect.
