The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has assured members of the Joint Tricycle Association of Kwara state of his continuous support and patronage.
Saraki gave the assurance in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital when tricyclists in their thousands thronged the ABS Mandate constituency office, Ilorin on a solidarity visit.
The tricyclists were at the Senate President’s constituency office to thank him for his support for them and assured him of their unalloyed support for his presidential ambition.
Represented by the Director General of ABS Mandate Constituency office, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, the Senate President praised the tricyclists for their orderly conduct and for contributing their quota to the socio-economic development of the state.
He described them as a very important segment of the transportation system as they transport commuters to terrains where vehicles could not access, thereby aiding business and commerce.
He promised to donate tricycles to members of the association during his next empowerment programme.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Cyclists Association in the state, Prince Duro Oyebade, had recalled how Saraki in 2007 “bailed us out of hunger and poverty by introducing tricycle into the state’s transportation system when he was Kwara state governor. ”
He said they were on a thank you visit to the constituency office of the Senate President, adding that “we are here to thank you for your support for us and our union and to assure you of our continued support towards winning all elections in Kwara state and becoming Nigeria’s next president.”
