Unknown gunmen suspected to be cultists on Wednesday killed a barbing saloon operator whose identity could not be ascertained in Idumwunowina area on the ever busy Benin-lagos road in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state
The deceased, it was gathered recently got a petty trader loan to commence the small business, as he opened his shop for the day’s business as early as 8 am yesterday(20 march, 2019) when three gunmen stormed his shop and opened fire on him.
Sources who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said, the gunmen who came on a motorcycle moved towards the oluku end of the Ugbowo Lagos road axis unchallenged as the residents in the area fled after they heard several gun shots fired by the cultists during the attack.
Security operatives from the ugbowo and Ekiadolor police divisions immediately were reported to have stormed the scene to track down the culprits but to no avail.
The lifeless body of the youngman killed in his Barbing Shop in the attack has been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary in the area.
In a related development, another victim, a 23 year old National Diploma student of Department of Accounting, Auchi Polytechnic, in Edo state has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Auchi.
The deceased identified as Emmanuel Aronokhale who hail from Okpilla in Estako East Local Government Area of Edo state State was reportedly killed at about 8 pm last night (Tuesday) in his Auchi residence at second Bawak, Sabo.
The deceased was said to be relaxing in front of the hostel with his fellow students was attacked by the gun men who ordered everyone into their various rooms where they were successfully robbed of their money and mobile phones.
The 23 year old National Diploma student of Department of Accounting was not lucky as he was shot at close range where he died on the spot.
Sources confirmed that the remains of the student has been deposited in a Mortuary in the Auchi Area.
When contacted on phone over the incident, Edo Police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was yet to be briefed on the killing of the barbing saloon operator in the state.
