Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has donated N 1.4 million to the Yushau Abdullahi Nizzamiya Islamiya School, Arkilla Sokoto.

A statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani, made available to newsmen in Sokoto said that out of the amount, N 400,000 was doled to the 80 graduands of the school, while N 1million was given in aid of the operations of the school.

Speaking at the occasion, Senator Wamakko, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, observed that the funding of education was a collective responsibility of all citizens as government could not do it.

The former governor of Sokoto State who now represents Sokoto North Senatorial District therefore urged wealthy Nigerians to complement the efforts of government in funding education, at all levels.

” There should be more investments in education and more private schools should be established.

“I am therefore commending the proprietor of this school for establishing it and sustaining its funding”, he added.

Senator Wamakko urged other wealthy individuals to emulate Alhaji Yushau Abdullahi, in the bid to restore the lost glory of the educational sector.

He commended his successor, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for sustaining the laudable programmes and policies of his administration, especially in the educational sector.
