Edo Queens football club of Benin will on Thursday take on Olori Babes
FC of Delta at the Nanka township stadium in Anambra State in the
ongoing round of 16 of the Women’s Aiteo Cup competition.
Technical Director of the Godwin Obaseki Girls said that his girls are
battle ready to prove their supremacy over all other teams in the race
for the trophy.
“Look in this round leather game, there are no rookies, we are going
to the game to play our best, and we are very confident that we would
carry the day. Our aim is to win the Aiteo prestigious trophy for our
state, we kick-started the season very well, we are the current
defending champions in the state FA; we just defeated a team from Oyo
State 21-0 in this competition. We are going to underrate any team I
want my girls to be in top form for the game that is why we are
training vigorously for this match. These girls cannot afford to fail,
we have set target for ourselves and that target is winning the
trophy. Edo queens got to the semifinals last season, so we hope to
play at the finals this time by his grace.”
“We want to use this medium to thank the state government for their
supports so far, they have done so well for us, I want them to
continue because we have promised not to let them down. We are very
appreciative of the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu but for
him sports in the state would be dead. We need more of their supports
so that we actualize our dreams for Edo Queens and make female
football in Edo worthwhile.”
