Members of the Jakadiya Newspaper and Magazine chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalist have been urged not to be bias in balancing their stories and strictly adherence the constitution of NUJ.
The chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalist Yobe State chapter Comrade Yusufu Isah gave the warning while inaugurating – The Jakadiya Newspaper and Magazine chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalist in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital on Friday.
According to him, “Journalism is a profession where professionalism is key, as such, do not do anything that will drag the good name of this profession to the mud. As journalists, you may not make the money but surely you will have good name when you do the right thing and believe me, good name is always better than money.
Comrade Yusufu also said, Jakadiya chapel is a baby chapel now, but gradually it will grow, adding that if the chapel follows the NUJ constitution strictly they would have no problem in discharging their duty and assured them that NUJ Yobe state chapter will continue to support them at all time.
In his speech, the Publisher, Editor In-chief Jakadiya, Alhaji Babangida Ahmed said the Newspaper and magazine started about two years ago with sole aim of promoting the society.
According to him, despite criticism and discouragement, “our efforts are maintained because we believe in ourselves and also know that for every success story definitely there must be challenges.’ The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams’ if I may borrow the words of Eleanor Roosevelt.”
Those inaugurated are Alhaji Babangida Ahmed Chairman, Ibrahim Sabo El-Tafseer Vice Chairman, Aliyu Baba Ali Secretary, Usman Abdulkarim Assistant Secretary, Babayo Wakili Treasurer, Hajiya Laraba Kure Financial Secretary, Bamai M. Isa Auditor I and Malam Abubakar Isa Sani Auditor II.
