10 Die in Lagos Road Crash Involving Toyota Sienna and Stationary Truck

Tragedy struck late Tuesday night as approximately 10 individuals lost their lives in a road accident on the Lagos-Badagry Road. The collision involved a Toyota Sienna bus and a stationary truck, occurring around 11:07 PM near Abule Osun, in the direction of Iyana Iba.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that a distress call was made through the 767/112 emergency lines, prompting the deployment of their Dolphin Response Team from the Igando base. Upon arrival, responders found that the fully loaded Toyota Sienna, bearing the registration number BDG342FS, had collided with a parked SHACMAN truck, which was carrying granite.

The truck, which had no visible registration number, was reportedly obstructing nearly half of the expressway, leaving limited room for passing vehicles. According to witnesses, the bus driver was speeding when the collision occurred.

LASEMA confirmed that 10 people died at the scene, including three adult males, four adult females, two female children, and one male child. Additionally, three individuals sustained critical injuries and were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital by officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) before LASEMA’s team could arrive.

In a statement, LASEMA noted that the Toyota Sienna was subsequently moved to the FRSC station for further investigation. The rescue operation involved multiple agencies, including LASEMA’s Response Team (LRT), LASAMBUS, the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, the FRSC, and the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU), which assisted in evacuating and bagging the deceased.
